
DOHA: Qatar Foundation (QF) is hosting a Swimming Sprint Meet for children in 7-14 age group and older at its Recreation Centre at Education City today. The meet is one of activities that take place at the centre, where visitors can play football, table tennis, badminton and much more, and is part of QF’s mission to encourage and promote a healthy and active lifestyle to foster a sport-loving society and a healthy population.
The event starts at 8am and ends at 3am and will include individual and team events for age groups 7-9; 10-11; 12-13; and 14 & above for boys and girls.
About 500 participants have registered for different categories. Categories for individual events are 50-metre sprints in swim styles such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. For team events, there will be eight 50-metre ‘fun canon races’ with one boy and one girl participants per age group.
Entry fee is QR20 for members and QR30 for non-members.
