DOHA: Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi opened his account on Twitter yesterday.
The idea is to be in touch with people, especially parents and people involved with education to get their feedback on a regular basis.
People can follow the Minister on @M_Alhamadi_PhD.
The account has received good response. On the first day, the number of his tweet account followers crossed 1,000.
The number was continuously going up as this report was being filed. The account was opened at around 10am yesterday and by 9pm the number of his followers was 1,080.
The maiden post made by the Minister on his account said: “I welcome you to my twitter account. I am happy to interact with you, Your brother Mohammed Al Hammadi”.
A message is also floating on top of the account which says, “Minister of Education and Higher Education-Qatar. If don’t respond to a message that doesn’t mean that I am ignoring that message”.
The account received many comments appreciating the move of the Minister. “I thank the Minister of Education for opening a Twitter account. It will contribute positively to the work of the ministry,” said a commentator in his tweet. The account is in Arabic but some comments were posted in English.
