Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will participate today in the General Debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The debate is scheduled to commence today at 4pm Doha Time, and will continue through Saturday, September 27, and conclude on Monday, September 29.
This year's general debate is focused on the theme "Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights".
HH the Amir's speech in today's debate is expected to highlight the principles of Qatar's foreign policy and spotlight the consequences of Israeli aggression in Gaza.

"I have also been deeply engaged in seeking a ceasefire in Gaza," he said.
"We have to stop the war in Gaza and immediately negotiate peace," Trump added.
President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Lula da Silva, says the only war of which everyone can emerge victorious is the one we wage against hunger and poverty.
"Nothing, absolutely nothing, justifies the ongoing genocide in Gaza," he said.
"In Gaza, hunger is used as a weapon of war and the forced displacement of populations goes on unpunished. The Palestinian people are at risk of disappearing. They will only survive with an independent state integrated into the international community," he added.
