Doha: Former Director of Qatar TV, Mohammed Abdulrahman Shaheen Al Rabiah Al Kuwari, has said that daily programmes covering local issues and historical serials have made the national channel popular among the huge number of viewers.
Al Kuwari is one of the most important Qatari figures who made remarkable contributions in the development of the channel.
Speaking to The Peninsula on 52nd anniversary of Qatar TV, he said: “During my tenure, I took several measures to develop the programmes of Qatar TV and improve the performance of its anchors.” He said that new qualified anchors were hired to take the national channel to new heights.
“The broadcast timing was increased to round-the-clock to meet the aspiration of viewers. The increasing of broadcasting time was very important addition.
Many new programmes focusing on the coverage of local issues were also launched during my tenure,” said Al Kuwari.
He said that the new programmes which aimed to serve the citizens and nation included local issues, talk shows, cultural, religious, entertainment activities and educational contests among others.
Speaking about the achievements of Qatar TV, Al Kuwari said that the channel participated in a number of festivals and won many awards. He said that the channel also aired many historical serials and bagged a number of awards.
“The most popular historical serials were Omar bin Al Khattab, Al Hajjaj, Dhiqar and Abu Jafar Mansour among others,” said Al Kuwari.
To a question about the daily programmes, he said that there were a number of daily programs that were aired in the morning and evening covering local issues related to the day-to-day life of people.
