Sharjah police arrests beggar with more than Dh1million hidden in his flat

Sharjah police has arrested a beggar with more than Dh1 million slashed away in his flat.
According to a report by an English daily from UAE the Arab man in his 50s had made more than Dh1 million from street begging in Al Taawun area. He was visiting UAE constantly and has been referred to the authorities for investigation.
The Sharjah police arrested 9,663 illegals and beggars arrested in 440 raids in the first eight months of this year, out of which 6,850 are men and rest 2,813 women.
“Police also unearthed an illegal network of 20 illegal Asian residents working in a car wash next to a shopping centre in Sharjah and earning more than Dh1.2 million a month together in illegal activities, the investigators found,” the Gulf News reported.
Lt Col Saleem Harimal, Head of Violations Section at Sharjah Police, said a large number of those arrested were found hiding in abandoned buildings, building sites, workshops and empty labour accommodations.
According to the Gulf News report some people who were caught in the raids spend their day begging and at night they lived a life of luxury renting luxury cars, buying expensive cloths and living in high-end hotels.
Police have found many beggars t in possession of millions of dirhams, and some enter the country on a visa solely for the purpose of begging.
