Washington, USA: Meta has announced that it will make the Instagram for TV app available on Samsung smart TVs, along with a range of new features specifically designed for group viewing indoors.
With this step, the Instagram TV application has become available across three major TV platforms connected to the Internet, after its previous launch for Amazon Fire TV devices in December 2025, and then for Google TV devices during February 2026.
The update includes Samsung smart TVs released from 2020 onwards, with the addition of new features aimed at making it easier to discover and watch content on large screens.
Meta is currently testing channels based on user interests, grouping Reels into specific categories such as comedy, sports, or favorite creators' content, allowing users to access relevant content more quickly. Users can now send Reels directly from their phones to the TV screen, including clips saved under the Saved tab, a feature that was previously available on Fire TV and Google TV.
As part of the company's effort to adapt Instagram to large screens, Meta is also testing a space dedicated to horizontal video clips, in an implicit admission that vertical content designed for smartphones does not always provide the best viewing experience on televisions.
Meta isexploring new forms of content, including long-form videos, multi-episode series created by content creators, in addition to the "Live Broadcast on TV" feature, which may allow users to follow content creators' live broadcasts on televisions for the first time.
This approach is based on the "Series" feature that the company began testing via the smartphone application in early June, which allows content creators to organize Reels clips into interconnected episodes within a space designated for each series. Meta has not yet revealed an official date for the launch of these features, confirming that it continues to work with content creators to determine the best formats suitable for large screens compared to smartphones.
