Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has launched a new initiative to promote the use of Riyadh Al-Saliheen by Imam Al-Nawawi, as part of its strategic plan to strengthen faith-based values and deepen religious awareness across society.

The initiative, introduced through the Ministry’s Department of Mosques, seeks to establish Riyadh Al-Saliheen as a comprehensive educational and moral reference that helps reinforce the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in everyday life and serves various segments of the community.

According to the Ministry, the initiative is built around three main pillars. The first focuses on enhancing the role of mosques by expanding the educational and guidance efforts of imams. Under this track, mosque imams have been directed to hold daily lessons featuring the reading and explanation of selected hadiths from the book in a simplified manner suitable for worshippers. Weekly in-depth lectures on selected narrations will also be organised, alongside monthly gatherings dedicated to the recitation of hadiths from the collection, helping to strengthen the presence of the Prophetic tradition in mosque life.

The second pillar aims to extend the initiative’s impact to families and young people, recognising the family as the primary environment for nurturing values. Families are encouraged to allocate regular time at home for reading and discussing hadiths from Riyadh Al-Saliheen.

The initiative also promotes the memorisation of Prophetic sayings among participants in the “Mosque Boys” programme, with the objective of instilling noble morals and positive behaviour from an early age and supporting the Ministry’s vision of raising a generation that is conscious of its religious identity.

In line with Qatar’s digital transformation efforts, the third pillar leverages technology to facilitate access to Islamic knowledge. Mosque visitors will be able to download the approved digital version of Riyadh Al-Saliheen directly to their smartphones by scanning a QR code featured in the Ministry’s monthly electronic magazine displayed on mosque noticeboards.

The Ministry said the initiative reflects effective institutional cooperation among its various departments, with implementation taking place through coordination between the Department of Mosques, the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance, and the Department of Islamic Affairs. The collaboration is expected to contribute to the achievement of key performance indicators outlined in the Ministry’s strategic plan while ensuring the delivery of modern and effective religious services rooted in authentic Islamic teachings.

Officials noted that the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s broader strategy to develop religious outreach programmes, strengthen the community role of mosques, promote Islamic values, and foster stronger partnerships between mosques, families, and society. Through programmes that combine authenticity with contemporary approaches, the Ministry aims to make mosques centres of spiritual and educational enrichment while contributing to the development of responsible individuals and a values-driven community.
