Qatar Tourism, Qatari Hotels Association discuss cooperation

Doha, Qatar: The Qatari Hotels Association (QHA) received H E Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, along with Omar Abdulrahman Al Jaber, Chief of Tourism Development Sector; Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, Chief Executive Officer of Visit Qatar; and Abdullah Mohammed Al Falasi, Director of the Office of the Chairman of Qatar Tourism, to discuss the current conditions of the tourism and hospitality sector in light of the ongoing regional developments. 

The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, QHA Chairman, in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Fahad Al Thani, Founding Member of QHA, Omar Hussein Al Fardan, QHA Second Vice Chairman, and Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed bin Fahd Al Thani, QHA Secretary-General, along with founding members Sheikh Falah bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Thani, Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani, Mohammed Al Jaidah, and Fahad Abdullah Al Mana, in addition to Tarek El Sayed, Chief Executive Officer of Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company, as well as chief executives of hotels, representatives of Katara Hospitality, and Sarah Abdullah, QHA General Manager.

At the  beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, QHA Chairman, underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors to address the challenges facing the tourism and hospitality sector under the current regional circumstances, praising the role of government entities in supporting the private sector in a manner that contributes to enhancing the sector’s stability and sustainability during this phase. 

For his part, Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, affirmed that the Government of the State of Qatar places great importance to supporting various economic sectors, particularly the tourism sector, noting that plans are in place to direct tourism events and government initiatives towards supporting the hotel sector. 

His Excellency further indicated that the hotel sector represents a fundamental pillar of the national tourism economy, which reinforces the State’s approach to supporting it in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, adding that the close cooperation between government entities and the private sector at the onset of the current developments, particularly in hosting visitors, extending their stays, and providing high-quality services, has contributed to strengthening the State of Qatar’s image as a safe and reliable global tourism destination. 

In the same context, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, QHA Chairman, affirmed that the government is keen to support the private sector and address the challenges it faces, thereby reinforcing its role as a key partner in economic development, noting that the tourism sector is one of the promising sectors of strategic importance in achieving growth within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, and stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation to overcome obstacles in a manner that serves Qatar’s tourism sector. 

He also commended the level of partnership between QHA and Qatar Tourism, noting that the formation of a joint committee between the two sides represents a positive step towards enhancing coordination and reflects a new phase of joint institutional work aimed at developing the tourism and hospitality sector and placing it on the right path in line with visitor expectations.
