Israel intercepts Egyptian passenger plane

JERUSALEM: Two Israeli fighter jets intercepted an Egyptian passenger plane on Saturday, Israeli media reported.

According to Israel Radio, the plane was escorted to Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv after its pilots failed to communicate with air traffic control.

Israel Radio said the aircraft was identified as an Air Sinai passenger plane and was later allowed to return to Egypt after its pilots were questioned.
