ISLAMABAD: Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday greeted his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain on Pakistan Day.
Mukherjee, who visited Pakistan last when he was foreign minister with the Congress government, wrote, “India remains committed to peaceful, friendly and cooperative relations with Pakistan.
“I am of the firm conviction that our cooperation will lead to progress and prosperity in our region. I take this opportunity to extend my best wishes for your good health and wellbeing,” the letter added.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated move, former union minister Shashi Tharoor speaking during a panel discussion empasised on the need for free trade between the two neighbours which, he said, will eventually help contain terror attacks by the likes of LeT on India.
