Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) outlined the procedures followed to address legal violations committed by companies, highlighting penalties that can reach up to QR1 million or daily fines of up to QR10,000 for ongoing violations.

In an infographic shared by the ministry, it explained that if a company violates provisions of the law or its implementing regulations, any partner holding more than 10 percent of the company’s capital may submit a request to the ministry to conduct an inspection.

According to the ministry, the competent authority first notifies the violator and begins investigating the reported violation.

If the violator fails to attend within the specified period, a new appointment is scheduled and a second notification is issued.

Should the violator fail to attend again, disciplinary measures may be taken in accordance with Article 324 of the law.

The disciplinary measures include:

- Issuing a warning

- Reprimand

- Prohibiting the violator from serving as a board member or company manager for a specified period

- Imposing a daily financial penalty not exceeding QR10,000 for continuing violations

- Imposing a financial fine not exceeding QR1,000,000

The competent authority will notify the violating company of the disciplinary decision, which may also be published through appropriate channels.

The ministry urged company founders and stakeholders to comply with applicable laws and regulations to protect businesses and promote a fair and competitive business environment.
