Qatar is expected to witness another spell of unstable weather from today, with chances of rain accompanied by thunder. Moderate rains are expected until tomorrow, with increasing cloud formation. The weather bureau has also warned of strong winds and high seas.
Qatar saw the coldest February this year since 1962, according to the weather bureau. The temperature average for the month was 2 to 3 degrees lower than the usual average for the month. The mercury also fell to its lowest in Qatar earlier this month with a temperature of 1.5 degrees Celsius recorded at Abu Samrah, breaking previous record of 3.8 degrees Celsius observed in 1964.
Today, the weather is expected to be hazy to misty at places at first with cloudy skies and a chance of scattered rains becoming thundery at times at places. The wind would be variable, being less than 5 knots at places at first, becoming north-easterly with speed between 5 to 15 knots going up to 25 knots during thunderstorm.
Visibility will be affected initially due to misty weather conditions to three km or less but later visibility will improve to four to eight km.The sea state will be rough near the shores and inside the deep seas waves could rise from 2 to 4 feet high, going up to 8 feet during thunderstorm, said the bureau. The maximum temperatures today will vary between 18and 20 degrees C across the country. The minimum temperature today would be few degrees higher compared to the last few days.
Doha will have a temperature range between 20 and 17 degrees Celsius, while in Messaieed and Al Wakrah the maximum temperature would be 19 and minimum 14 degrees Celsius. Al Khor would have temperaturs between 20 and 14 degrees Celsius, while in Ruwais the temperature would be between 18 and 16 degrees Celsius, Dukhan would have temperature between 19 and 15 degrees Celsius and Abu Samrah between 20 and 14 degrees.
