Doha: Director of the Centre for Legal and Judicial Studies (CLJS) at the Ministry of Justice Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al Khaldi affirmed that the first edition of the Doha Legal Forum, which will take place from January 26 to 27 in Doha, is the largest legal event to be held in the State of Qatar.
Al Khaldi said that the forum serves as a high-level intellectual platform bringing together a distinguished group of policymakers and legal scholars from around the world to discuss the latest legislative and judicial developments, particularly in light of the technological, social, and economic transformations driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
In an exclusive interview with QNA, Al Khaldi explained that the forum aims to showcase Qatar’s efforts in building an investment-friendly legislative environment, in line with the Third National Development Strategy and the country’s public policies.
He noted that the forum’s theme, “Emerging Trends and Future Outlooks,” reflects a forward-looking approach to studying the latest comparative legislation and improving legislative projects and public policies, particularly in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
He pointed out that the forum contributes to strengthening investment confidence by highlighting the role of the judiciary and the efficient delivery of justice in supporting the business environment. He noted that its convening comes amid regional economic competition, emphasizing the importance of showcasing the legislative programs and initiatives the State has implemented to attract foreign investment.
He explained that the first edition of the Doha Legal Forum aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Ministry of Justice Strategy 2025-2030. He added that holding the forum biennially helps acquire expertise, build international networks of relationships and partnerships, and positively impacts the development of the justice system while enhancing the quality of legal services according to the highest global standards.
The CLJS Director said that the forum will address a number of emerging legal issues, particularly in digital transformation and AI, through specialized sessions. These include a session on the Legal Regulation of Financial Services Technologies (FinTech): Between Digitisation Requirements and Cyber Challenges, as well as another session on the Legal Regulation of the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Light of Divergent Legislative Trends, with the participation of legal experts and scholars from several countries.
