Doha, Qatar: Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari said that the Qatar-Tajik Business Forum aims to enhance cooperation between the Qatari private sector and its counterpart from the Republic of Tajikistan and explore opportunities for partnership and investment between businessmen from both sides.

He expressed his appreciation to the President of Tajikistan, H E Emomali Rahmon, for attending the forum, stressing that this reflects his interest in developing economic and commercial relations between both friendly countries.

This was revealed at the event, which was held yesterday at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the presence of H E Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassem Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, a number of QC board members, as well as a crowd of Qatari and Tajik businessmen.

Addressing the forum, bin Twar noted that Qatar and Tajikistan are bound by a strong and fast-growing relationship, which has been bolstered through mutual visits at the level of leadership and delegations at all levels, as well as the number of agreements signed between both sides in various fields.

He also said that the two countries’ trade volume is still below expectations and doesn’t correspond with the available potential in both countries, affirming that the private sector can play a major role in developing trade between both nations.

In addition, activating mutual investments and forging joint ventures in both countries are crucial.

Twar called on Tajik companies to take advantage of the investment incentives provided by Qatar for foreign investors, especially in the presence of world-class infrastructure, leading economic legislation, and the abundance of opportunities available in
free, logistic, and industrial
zones.

QC First Vice-Chairman indicated the significance of boosting cooperation between Qatari and Tajik firms through establishing commercial all ances and active partnerships.

He further stressed the importance of activating the Qatar-Tajik joint business council, especially in light of the agreements signed between the chambers of commerce of Qatar and Tajikistan last June. He noted that the business council plays a key role in strengthening cooperation between the private sectors on both sides in various commercial and investment fields.
