ZURICH: Qatar came 60th in the latest FIFA rankings for men's national teams updated on Thursday, only four days after the conclusion of the country's hosting of the first-ever World Cup in the Middle East and Arab region.
The hosts dropped 10 spots based on their early elimination over their Group A three successive defeats from Ecuador, Senegal, and Netherlands.
The rankings put Brazil in the top spot with 1840.77 points despite their quarter-final World Cup elimination when they lost to Croatia on penalties.
Argentina who claimed their third World Cup trophy moved up to second, while runners-up France moved into third.
The previously No. 2-ranked Belgium dropped two spots to fourth, and England, who lost in the last-eight to France, remained fifth.
Croatia, who clinched bronze in Qatar jumped five spots to seventh, while Morocco soared from No. 22 to No. 11 after their World Cup fourth-place finish.
