Doha, Qatar: The Portuguese and Brazilian national teams qualified Friday for the semifinals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, following their victories over Switzerland and Morocco, respectively.

Portugal defeated Switzerland 2-0, with goals from Mathias Meade in the 41st minute and José Neto in the 53rd minute.

Brazil completed the semifinal lineup after defeating Morocco 2-1. Brazil took the lead through Del in the 16th minute, but Morocco equalized through Ziad Baha in the 45th minute of first-half stoppage time (90+5).

Portugal and Brazil will now face each other in the semifinals next Monday.

Austria, Italy to face each other

Austria secured their place in the semifinals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 with a 1-0 victory over Japan at the Badr Bilal Stadium.

The Austrian team owe their sixth consecutive win in the tournament to Johannes Moser, who scored the only goal of the match in the 49th minute, bringing his tally to six goals in this edition.

In the final minutes of the match, Dychez missed a chance to double the lead after failing to convert a penalty, but this did not prevent Austria from maintaining their advantage until the final whistle.

In another match, Italy overcame Burkina Faso with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal by Thomas Campagnolo in the 83rd minute, setting up a semifinal clash with Austria.

The match saw early attempts from the African team, as striker Mohamed Zongo almost gave Burkina Faso the lead in the first half, but his shot hit the crossbar.
