Bazm-E-Alig Qatar, an Alumni Association of Students from Aligarh Muslim University in India, organised the 22nd Annual debate competition for students of English speaking schools based in Doha. The event took place on November 16 at the new auditorium of Birla Public Scholl.
There were participants from Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi Schools. The topics of debate of this year’s were: for the junior category, ‘Are test scores a good indication of a School’s Performance?’ and for the senior category, ‘Oil has been more of a curse than a blessing for the Middle East’.
The students presented their different views, by analyzing the main points of the topics.
M S Bukhari, Managing Director of Satco International, Anil Sharma, Country Head of Tata Consultancy Services Qatar, and Prajayan M, human resources of Consultant Tata Consultancy Services Qatar, were judges for the event. Bukhari encouraged the participants to enhance their debating skills and understanding of the subjects. In junior category, the fist position went to Amna Nasir from Pakistan Education Centre (PEC), while in the senior category, Aditya Divakar Karkera from Birla Public School (BPS) won the first prize.
