Doha, Qatar: The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (Aman), one of the centres of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, is participating in the national digital safety campaign “A Digitally Aware Family” under the slogan “Protecting Them Is Your Responsibility,” organised by the Ministry of Social Development and Family with the participation of 20 national entities.

The campaign seeks to strengthen public awareness of safe technology use and protect families, particularly children and adolescents, from risks associated with the digital environment. It also highlights digital safety as a shared responsibility and encourages families to adopt positive and responsible technology practices. The initiative comes amid the rapid expansion of digital technologies and platforms and their growing influence on family life. It aims to equip parents and children with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the digital world safely, while encouraging family dialogue on online practices, protection of privacy and personal data, and early identification of potential digital risks. The campaign also promotes awareness of the importance of seeking assistance and reporting incidents involving threats, abuse or technology-enabled blackmail.

As part of its participation, Aman is focusing on preventing technology-related blackmail and helping children, adolescents and families recognise unsafe digital behaviours and respond appropriately.

Acting Executive Director of Aman Fadl Mohammed Al Kaabi, said the centre’s participation reflects its commitment to proactive prevention, noting that protecting children and adolescents in the digital environment has become an essential component of social protection. He stressed the importance of the national campaign in unifying efforts and reinforcing the shared responsibility of families, institutions and society in creating a safer digital environment.

Director of the Communication and Media Office at Aman Hanan Al Ali, said the centre’s participation combines digital communication with direct awareness activities. She noted that the campaign’s messages are being delivered through social media alongside school and kindergarten workshops tailored to different age groups. She said the initiative aims to help children understand how to protect themselves, families learn how to support them, and everyone recognise when and how to seek assistance when facing digital risks.
