Washington: US President Donald Trump pledged to provide significant assistance to Lebanon.

Speaking at a press conference following his meeting with Lebanese President Gen. Joseph Aoun at the White House Tuesday, Trump said the Israeli army is in the process of withdrawing from southern Lebanon and is currently in the process of redeploying.

For his part, Aoun stressed that the time has come for Lebanon to enjoy peace, and that together this can be achieved.

He thanked President Trump for helping reach this historic achievement through the signing of the framework agreement with Israel.

Lebanese military units began deploying at dawn today in the town of Zawtar Al-Gharbiya in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, based on ongoing contacts with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L), following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.
