Qatar ranks 48 on Henley Passport Index with access to 112 destinations

Doha, Qatar: Qatar's passport has ranked 48th globally and second in the Gulf region in the July 2026 Henley Passport Index, that was released on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. 

According to the ranking published on the website, Qatari passport holders have visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 112 destinations around the world, including Europe's Schengen area. 

The index reveals that the average passport now provides visa-free access to 108 destinations worldwide, up from 58 when the index was first launched 20 years ago. 

Singapore retains its position as the world's most powerful passport with access to 192 destinations, while the United Arab Emirates joins Japan and South Korea in second place with access to 188 destinations. 

Among the remaining GCC countries, Kuwait stands at 51 (with a visa-free score of 97), while Saudi Arabia follows closely at 54 (visa-free score of 91), then Bahrain at 55 (visa-free score of 88), and Oman at 58 (visa-free score of 85).

The Henley Passport Index is based on exclusive Timatic data from the International Air Transport Association and is the most authoritative ranking measuring the travel freedom of passports worldwide. The Henley Passport Index compares 199 passports across 227 travel destinations.
