Doha: Qatar has been ranked among the top three safest countries of the world with the lowest crime rates and highest safety standards.

According to Numbeo’s Safety Index by Country 2025 Mid-Year, Qatar has been ranked at number 3 with a score of 84.6 in the safety index out of 148 countries covered in the survey.

Numbeo’s crime index calculations approximate the overall degree of crime in the city or country in question, while the safety index is an approximation of the general safety levels.

According to the recently-released survey, the Gulf region has four other countries in the top 15 including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.

In 2024, Qatar was also ranked as the second safest country in the world, just behind the United Arab Emirates, according to Numbeo.

Numbeo’s safety index considers various measures including crime levels, safety while walking alone, and the incidence of stolen vehicles and property crimes.

Like last year, Qatar achieved very low scores in crime rates, concerns about home break-ins, car theft, physical attacks, and drug-related offenses.

At the same time, Qatar scored highly for safety during both day and night, reflecting the secure environment that allows residents, regardless of gender or nationality, to walk freely around the city and children to play safely in parks and playgrounds.

Qatar has also been ranked at number 16 in a global ranking of 89 countries on the Quality of Life Index by Country 2025 Mid-Year by Numbeo.

The country’s score on the index is 189.4. These scores are higher than most of the countries in the region.

The Quality of Life Index is an estimation of the overall quality of life in a country.

It considers various factors that influence quality of life, including purchasing power, pollution levels, housing affordability, cost of living, safety, healthcare quality, commute times, and climate conditions.

The index is designed to provide a comparative measure, where a higher index value indicates a better quality of life.

The index is based on data and user surveys collected by Numbeo.

These surveys reflect the perceptions and experiences of visitors to the Numbeo website regarding multiple aspects of quality of life.

The index is calculated using an empirical formula that assigns weights to each factor based on its importance.
