Doha, Qatar: The general public have been reminded to use the Metrash app and official channels to report traffic accidents, as sharing accident photos or videos on social media can result in legal penalties.
Speaking in a webinar on behalf of the Community Police Department, Awareness Officer Captain Khaled Hussain Al Shammari said motorists are allowed to record accident scenes solely for the purpose of reporting them to the concerned authorities.
He explained that reports submitted through Metrash can include the vehicle's plate number and up to four photos of the accident scene, provided passengers and individuals involved are not photographed.

Captain Al Shammari warned that publishing accident photos or videos on social media platforms is prohibited and may attract a fine of up to QR10,000. However, taking photos or videos exclusively to assist official reporting procedures remains permissible.
He emphasized that community policing aims to ensure public safety and strengthen cooperation between the police and society, noting that the presence of police officers should inspire reassurance rather than fear.
Captain Al Shammari said that the Community Police hotline services are available in multiple languages, with trained personnel able to assist callers from different nationalities. He added that missed calls are followed up through a callback system to ensure that assistance reaches those seeking help.
Also speaking on behalf of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior, Major Khamis Al Merekhi noted that the department plays a key role in promoting awareness, protection, rehabilitation, and respect for human dignity through a range of legal, social, humanitarian and awareness initiatives.
The department operates under the vision of “Solid Justice, Permanent Security,” focusing on delivering outstanding security performance based on legitimacy, respect for human dignity, credibility, objectivity and non-discrimination.
