Two-day heatwave claims 135 lives in Karachi

KARACHI: At least 135 people have died due to the current heatwave during the last two days in Karachi as confirmed by Executive District Officers (EDO) Health, from government hospitals.

The maximum today is expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius in the metropolis which has seen temperatures as high as 45 degrees Celsius on Friday.

During the last two days, mostly elderly patients with heatstroke brought to the hospitals had high-grade fever and dehydration.

Mortuaries have been packed to capacity with heatwave deaths and claim they have no more space.
