DOHA: Maersk Oil Qatar’s latest phase of ‘Find Your Place’ recruitment campaign has attracted an influx of employment and internship applicants.
The campaign was part of the company’s Qatarisation Strategy to increase the number of Qataris in leadership, specialist and offshore positions.
It featured Qataris Mohammed Al Marri, Moza Yousef Al Naimi and Khalid Jassim who have progressed in their careers at the company with support of one-to-one coaching, mentoring and fast-track development for high achievers.
The company has been working with the Supreme Education Council, Qatar University and campuses at Hamad Bin Khalifa University to encourage more internship opportunities.
It is focused on quadrupling the number of Qataris in leadership and senior specialist positions by 2017  as part of its strategy, backed by development programmes and workplace support.
Its Qatarisation efforts were recognised last month with an award for ‘Overall best support to Qatarisation’ at the annual Qatarisation Review Meeting.
Lewis Affleck, Managing Director of the company, said: “We have developed expertise and technical understanding of the challenging Al Shaheen offshore field and Qataris have played a key role.
“I am delighted that we are seeing more Qataris applying to join us, more Qataris taking leadership and senior specialist roles and more young people applying for internships.
“As part of the Maersk Group, with five business units active in Qatar and operations in more than 130 countries, I believe there is no better international company for talented Qataris to join.”
Sheikh Jassim bin Saud Al Thani, Head of Qatarisation at the company, said “The success of our strategy in attracting, retaining and developing more Qataris illustrates that Qatarisation is a key business priority for the company.
“We have an experienced and driven team that has rightly earned a reputation as specialists in Al Shaheen offshore field, talented Qataris will be as important to us in the future as they have been in the past.
