Doha, Qatar: Minister of Labour H E Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri chaired the 61st coordination meeting of the Ministers of Labour of the GCC countries, on the sidelines of the ‘Doha Dialogue on Labour Mobility between Gulf and African Countries’ held in Doha on May 21 and 22. The meeting highlighted aspects of coordination among GCC countries in terms of enhancing national manpower development in the GCC, improving occupational safety and health mechanisms, regulating the labour market, and developing and empowering GCC cadres.
During the meeting, Their Excellencies the Ministers reviewed the strategy of the Executive Office of the GCC Labour Ministers Council for 2024-2029, to identify national priorities of GCC member states regarding labour and manpower to enhance policies, partnerships and implement common projects in line with the improvement of labour environment within the GCC countries.
The meeting addressed matters related to the Doha Dialogue on Labour Mobility between Gulf and African Countries, emphasising the necessity to enhance consultation mechanisms.
Additionally, there was a focus on coordinating agendas for the upcoming 112th session of the International Labour Conference to be held in Geneva from June 3 to 14. The aim was to align the positions of GCC countries in this regard.
