Four murder convicts hanged in Punjab jails

LAHORE: Four condemned prisoners were hanged to death Wednesday morning at different jails across Punjab, the latest executions since Pakistan resumed the death penalty in December.  

Two death row prisoners were taken to the gallows at the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. 

Prisoner Rizwan was sentenced to death for the murder of five men in 2006, while Muazzam Khan was given the death penalty for committing murder in 1995. 

Murder convict Mohammad Nazeer, sentenced for killing a man in 2001, was hanged to death at the New Central jail Bahawalpur. 

Meanwhile death row prisoner Mohjammad Zahid was executed at the Sahiwal Central Jail for killing a constable in an encounter with police in 2001.
