Doha: Fans watching the Emir Cup matches this season stand to win attractive prizes, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) said yesterday.
With the first round matches starting from April 21, fans would feel the football festival in the air, Khaled Mubarak Al Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communications, QFA, said yesterday.
“We are bracing for another festival of football as we approach the starting date,” Al Kuwari said.
“The Emir Cup remains the most keenly followed football event in thecountry and we have once again made elaborate plans for our fans,” headded.
“There are many prizes to be won by fans who turn up at the matches,” he added.
The tournament will kick-start today with Round 1 which includes two matches played in Al Arabi Sports Club, with the first match beginning at 5:15pm between Al Shamal and Mseimeer, while the second beginning at 7:45pm between Markhiya and Shahania.
The final of the tournament will be played on May 18 at Khalifa International Stadium.
Prizes to be won in the first 3 rounds of the tournament include 10 coupons awarded from Sony – Fifty One East for every match. The winners will have to enter the draw in order to be eligible to win the coupon.
In addition to the fan prizes, there will be the Man-of-the-Match Award granted to the best performing player of every match.
Man-of-the-Match Award is sponsored by Sony – Fifty One East and it will range from QR3,000 up to 15,000.
Later this week, Qatar’s four teams will be competing for top honours in the Heir Apparent Cup to be held from April 27 to May 4.
The teams involved in the Heir Apparent Cup are Al Sadd, Lekhwiya, Al Rayyan and Eljaish.
