Students of Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College after attending lecture on human rights with Jaber Huwail, Ali Muharram and First Lieutenant Saleh Jar Allah Al Nabiet.
Two lectures on human rights and national institutions for human rights were delivered by officials of the National Human Right Committee (NHRC) to the students of Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College.
Jaber Al Huwail, Director of Legal Affairs at the NHRC introduced to the students the national human rights institutions and their common mission of these institutions which is receiving complaints related to violations of human rights and investigate them.
In addition to raising awareness teaching different segments of the societies about human rights.
Paris principles are the minimum international requirements for these organizations to play their role in a more effective ways Al Huwail explained adding that, these principles are a group of global standards that regulate and guide the work of the national institutions for human rights.
Al Huwail pointed out that Paris principles stipulates that establishment of these institutions must be in accordance the national constitutions of the country and law regulating their activities and clearly stating their mandates.
The Qatar National Human Rights Committee was established in accordance with the Qatari constitution as the issue of human rights is national issues for the society and global issue at the same time.
Respect of the rights whether they are political, social, cultural or economical and whether they are rights of individual or group shows commitment to the values of equity, justice and human dignity without any discrimination Al Huwail outlined. It is essential for achieving sustainable development.
QNHRC is not governmental or part of the civil society organizations, rather it is an national official body with consultative authority on human rights issues works in cooperation with different government institutions to settle complaints, he emphasized.
Human rights are a groups of values, principles and standards which agreed on by the international community to protect human dignity and free them from fear and needs, said Ali Muharram, who presented the second lecture on human rights.
Human rights is holistic rules and indivisible an apply to all human beings regardless to races, religion, locations or gender that is why it is global issue at the same time local and individual, Muharram outlined .
Along the students from Military collage of Ahmed bin Mohammed, the lecture was attended by First Lieutenant Saleh Jar Allah Al Nabiet.
