Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) yesterday launched a series of specialised educational and awareness activities to commemorate the International Day of Education, observed annually on January 24.
This year’s celebrations, held under the theme “The Power of Youth in Building the Future of Education,” highlight Qatar’s commitment to empowering the next generation as the primary drivers of sustainable development and national progress.
The festivities officially commenced at the Ministry’s headquarters (Building 5) with the opening of a two-day Educational Technology Exhibition (January 21–22).
Held in partnership with the “Dakkaken” Group, the exhibition serves as a strategic bridge between the public and private sectors, showcasing the latest smart learning tools and digital solutions designed to enhance blended learning in the modern era.
Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at MoEHE, Maha Zayed Al-Qaqa Al-Ruwaili, emphasised that the theme reflects a deep-seated belief in the youth’s potential. She stated that the Ministry is committed to equipping students with the digital tools and qualitative skills necessary to sharpen their identities as active partners in building the future, directly supporting the human investment goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The collaboration with “Dakkaken” Group builds on a successful track record of innovation. Nasser Al-Jaber, CEO of Dakkaken, highlighted the evolution of the partnership, noting the success of the “Young Innovator” initiative which utilises Virtual Reality (VR) and virtual labs to create immersive learning experiences.
He noted that the remarkable engagement from students confirms the urgent need for vibrant learning environments that stimulate creative thinking and keep pace with the digital age.
The celebrations extend far beyond the Ministry’s walls, involving a week-long series of activities across all public schools in Qatar. The programme includes an interactive tech exhibition showcasing AI-driven solutions, alongside specialized workshops designed to stimulate critical thinking and creativity.
Students are also participating in field expeditions to the National Command Center and Msheireb Properties’ Smart City to connect classroom theory with real-world technological applications. Furthermore, expert panel discussions are being held to explore how technology can be better integrated to improve academic outcomes.
Leadership from the Schools and Students Affairs Department conducted inspection tours of various schools and the main exhibition, praising the spirit of innovation displayed by both teachers and students.
