DOHA: The Losail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC) has witnessed a considerable increase of circuit activities and attendance in the 2017 season compared to 2016, Saud Al Attiyah, LCSC President, said here yesterday.
“The club was established two years ago and we have been able to use the facility the best way possible and the number of activities has increased up to reach 301 activities in 212 days of occupancy’’ said Al Attiyah.
‘We have to take into consideration that the track has been closed for 126 days, for maintenance works requested by the FIM, and this means that we reached 89% of track occupancy. If we compared the figures from last year, we increased by 36% the number of activities held at Losail and the track occupancy has increased by 19%, from 178 days in 2016 to 212 in 2017” Al Attiyah added.
‘One of our main goals is to have more community engagement and increase the motorsport involvement in our youth. It is important to highlight, that the facility has been open to all people at any time and the important participation of Qataris in all the activities. In 2016 a total of 78.958 people attended our events and in 2017 we had an attendance of 99.036 people, which means a 25% attendance increase’’ ended Al Attiyah.

“A total of 38% of our attendance are Qataris and we have increased the attendance to international events from 56.310 to 69.872 spectators’’ stated Al Remaihi.
“We are excited about making our infrastructure even safer and more comfortable for all the participants. During 2017, we have already started the track works to get a proper drainage system on the track in order to avoid the problems we faced last MotoGP with the heavy rain’’ added Al Remaihi.
“From the beginning, one of the main objectives of LCSC was to engage more people to our events and promote motorsport in our facility being more efficient and increase the club’s profits. In 2017, we have increased by 25% our income compared to 2016 and we have reduced our expenses an 8% compared to 2016’’ Al Remaihi said.
