Doha: Sheraton Grand Doha celebrated the National Day with a twist, a cake cutting ceremony of a 2, 022kg giant cake.

This year’s celebrations is also unique as they held traditional observance focusing on culture and gathering families including a cultural performance and quintessential local gastronomic treats. Among the highlight of the celebration is the ongoing first major ceramics exhibit by Qatari Artist Haifa Al  Khuzai dubbed “Al Naghda: Elegance from the past,” which will run until the end of the month. Her artworks can be seen at the Atrium Lounge.

Moreover, the Saturday celebrations continued with feasts in the hotel’s dining venues, Al Hubara, La Veranda and Pool Cafe, which served up locally inspired flavours perfectly designed for family gatherings. In the evening, guests enjoyed celebratory dinners and an unrivaled view of the fireworks display, and a mini-feature paying tribute to Qatar’s heritage and growth broadcasted on the building’s façade.
