Qatari cycling stars Ali bin Towar Al Kuwari and Abdulla Al Hammadi got on their bikes to explore Doha ahead of this Friday’s Ride of Champions event, details showed yesterday.
More than 900 cyclists are expected to feature at the special event presented by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and organised by the Qatar Cyclists Centre (QCC) and funded by Ministry of Culture and Sport.
Organisers claim that the Ride of Champions entries are almost sold out though there are a few spots available for seniors and beginners.
Ali and Abdulla are two of Qatar’s most inspiring cyclists. Ali recently rode through 21 Latin American countries making an Al Jazeera documentary while Abdulla has just returned from a cycling expedition that lasted 2278km in Japan.
“Fans can join Ali and Abdulla on November 24th at the Ride of Champions,” organisers said yesterday.
“Online entries closed yesterday at midnight with limited walk up entries available tomorrow and on Thursday night from 5-8pm behind ceremonial court at Qatar Foundation,” organisers added.
The event is also supported by the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation QTCF), Qatar Foundation (QF), Ooredoo, Rayyan water, GMC, Garmin, Rasen Sports, Carbon Wheels, Al Shaqab and Adidas eyewear.
