The Qatar International Mental Health Conference (QIMHC), the leading conference of its kind in the Gulf region, is poised to showcase leading available mental health research and developments (R&D) from around the world.
The QIMHC objective underpins that of Qatar’s National Mental Health Strategy, the purpose of which is to provide the best possible mental health services for citizens and foster changing attitudes towards mental illness. QIMHC will be held between December 1 and 3.
“Mental health research is so essential and as yet underrepresented in this region that a core objective has been to encourage more research initiatives. This year’s programme features several oral sessions which will showcase research and quality initiatives from Qatar and the Gulf region. Our objective is to use the conference as a platform to explore and promote research collaborations,” said Professor Peter Woodruff, Medical Director of HMS’s Mental Health Service and Chairman of Psychiatry.
“The conference promises not only to highlight some of the latest advances and best practices in mental health within the region, but it will promote information and knowledge exchange between local professionals and international experts,” said Dr Suhaila Ghuloum, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist – HMC Mental Health Service and Conference Organising Committee Chairperson.
