Doha: The Qatar Sports for All Federation's (QSFA) sports for all oasis program for women and girls continues to attract substantial participation across age groups.
These activities are held from Sunday through Wednesday each week over a three-month period at Ruqaya Preparatory School for Girls in the Umm Al Seneem area, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
The program grows out of QSFA's efforts to strengthen its societal role by dedicating sporting programs to women and girls and promoting their participation in sports. The Federation aims to provide opportunities for different age groups to practice a variety of sports in an atmosphere that respects privacy, encouraging them to pursue physical activity and make sports as integral a part of their lifestyles as possible.
The activities run daily from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., bringing together mothers accompanying their daughters and girls of different ages, highlighting the familial and societal nature of the program.
The agenda features a diverse range of sports, including soccer, volleyball, badminton, and basketball, alongside fitness workouts, walking, bodyweight strength training, and stretching and balance exercises. Professional female trainers oversee the activities, supported by an all-female administrative and technical team.
Meanwhile, the ladies' sports evening continues at Oxygen Park in Education City, welcoming mothers and girls aged 12 and older. The latest session drew 319 women and girls and featured fitness and stretching exercises, soccer, netball, and volleyball, as well as a dedicated recreational area for children, fostering a safe and comfortable environment for mothers to engage in physical activity.
The sports for all oasis program has recorded substantial turnout among women and girls, said QSFA Executive Director Abdullah Al Dosari, commending mothers for accompanying their daughters and praising participation across age groups.
Al Dosari added that this participation gives the program a strong familial character, reflecting QSFA's commitment to making sports a space that brings family members together and encourages them to pursue a more active lifestyle.
He said the program's organization stems from the Ministry of Sports and Youth's priority of fostering women's engagement in sports by providing a secure and comfortable environment that respects privacy and is supervised by professional female administrative staff.
