Doha, Qatar: As part of its Back-to-School #MakeStudentsHappy 2026 campaign, the representation office of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Syria has launched the Student Bags project, a program designed to support education for children in vulnerable environments.

Being implemented in coordination with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Society (SARCS), the project involves the distribution of school bags to poor students in several governorates, with a view to enabling them to pursue their education and ease the financial burdens of securing essential school supplies.

Distributions began in the Houla region, Homs, as part of a plan to distribute around 8,200 school bags. So far, nearly 3,500 have been handed out, with efforts currently in progress to achieve the distribution target very soon.

Each bag contains a variety of school supplies, including notebooks, pens, stationery, and other items necessary for students to study well and go to school normally.

QRCS revealed plans to expand distributions later to the towns of southern Al-Hasakah and northern Deir Al-Zor, which means additional 8,200 school bags, helping reach out to more students.

The Back-to-School 2026 fundraising campaign is aimed at helping students pursue their education, as well as providing educational supplies and opportunities that would enable them to build a better future.

An entire scheme has been adopted to support education services in many countries, at a total cost of more than QR12m These initiatives include support for poor students, provision of school bags and stationery, school maintenance and furnishing, and scholarships for certain university majors.

In addition to Qatar, the education-focused interventions will encompass eight other countries, as follows: Palestine (Gaza), Jordan, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Niger.
