Rome: H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Cultural Adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar’s candidate for the post of Director-General at Unesco, met yesterday with Mayor of the city of Rome Virginia Raggi.
During the meeting, Dr Al Kawari presented his vision on the role of culture and heritage in international relations, and also spoke in detail about the importance of and the need to preserve the heritage, stressing the importance of Unesco’s role in cooperation with countries and historic cities as well as the significance of working on the restoration and preservation of heritage.
The Mayor thanked Qatar’s candidate for his initiative to visit and exchange views with her, wishing the Qatari candidate success in his quest.
She also expressed eagerness to cooperate with him in the future.
Dr Kawari also met with Diplomatic Advisor to the Italian President Emanuela D’ Alessandro who conveyed President’s wishes for success to him.
The meetings were attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to the Italy Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki and a number of Italian officials.
