Doha: The Doha Film Institute (DFI) is organising a special screening series in Aspire Park to celebrate the 30th year anniversary of the launch of the popular Back to the Future trilogy.
The open air free screenings, part of the Cinema Under the Stars programme, pays tribute to the worldwide phenomenon of one the most inventive and wildly entertaining film trilogies in Hollywood history.
The highest grossing film of 1985, Back to the Future launched one of the most successful franchise’s in Universal’s history, including two theatrical sequels, an animated TV series, a theme park ride, toys, comic books, video games and apparel.
In Aspire Park, DFI will showcase all three films starting today, with the screening of the original groundbreaking adventure Back to the Future at 7.30pm. The fun continues on November 6 and 20 with screenings of Back to the Future Part II and Part III, respectively, from 8pm. Fans of the adventure can also participate in the Back to the Future Instagram competition to recreate their favourite moments from the blockbuster and win giveaways.
Starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd, with Steven Spielberg as executive producer, the original directed by Robert Zemeckis changed the future of the adventure movie genre. Powered with innovative special effects, unforgettable songs and non-stop action, the franchise follows the adventures of a high school student, Marty McFly (Fox) and an eccentric scientist Dr Emmett L Brown (Lloyd), as they use a DeLorean time machine to travel to different periods in the history of Hill Valley, California.
