Ramallah: Palestine is on the cusp of a consequential and busy week that features a global political discussion about the Palestinian cause, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry has affirmed.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Varsen Shahin, said the priority package for the Palestinian government at this stage is to bring the war of extermination and starvation to a close and prevent forced displacement in the Gaza enclave, in addition to protecting the Palestinian people.

The international community stands united with the Palestinian rights, with the Palestinian diplomatic action largely focused on galvanizing the most significant support for these rights, Dr. Shahin highlighted.

She highlighted that throughout the days ahead, a chorus of nations will recognize the State of Palestine, which is a natural and legal right and brings messages of hope to the people for a free and embodied statehood, in support of the Palestinian leadership, as well as the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, in backing the camp that upholds peace and the two-state solution.

These recognitions imply that there would be no sovereignty for Israel over Palestine's territory, Dr. Shahin stressed, thanking the nations that had previously recognized the State of Palestine, as well as those that have decided to declare their recognitions.

Dr. Shahin appealed to the rest of the nations to pursue the same step, affirming that the Israeli occupation is the origin of instability in the region and the world and the major cause of the Palestinians' plight that must end.

She highlighted that 159 countries have started recognizing Palestinian statehood, roughly 82% of world nations.
