Oslo: Flights in Norway would be disrupted on Friday and through the weekend due to a walkout by some air traffic controllers, after negotiations on working conditions failed, airport authorities said.
The Norwegian Air Traffic Controllers' Association has scheduled a walkout for 12 controllers at the country's two main airports, Oslo's Gardermoen and Bergen's Flesland.
Mediation attempts continued late into the night but no agreement was reached.
The strike, due to start at 11:00 am (0900 GMT) on Friday, is expected to cause delays in Oslo and Bergen in the afternoon and evening, with an impact on the rest of the country, air transport operator Avinor warned.
Delays are also expected over the weekend, and Gardermoen is expected to be closed to air traffic on Sunday morning.
According to the union, negotiations concerned break times and the framework governing air traffic controllers' work.
"It is incomprehensible that the Norwegian Air Traffic Controllers' Association is now launching a strike that will penalise passengers and air traffic in a completely unreasonable way," the Spekter employer organisation responded.
Spekter said it offered an average annual salary increase of 62,000 kroner ($6,650), which the union is said to have rejected.
