Doha, Qatar: This summer, Qatar Foundation’s Al-Mujadilah Centre & Mosque for Women launched a new initiative – a camp for girls – advancing its efforts to create a vibrant space for Muslim women to engage in research, worship, and dialogue.
Al-Mujadilah hosted 16 girls at the first-ever Khawlah Girls Club Summer Camp, held from July 27 to August 7, 2025. The two-week programme, themed ‘A Heart Pulsing with Faith and a Mind Striving for Excellence’, was organised in collaboration with Ajial Altarbwy Centre.
Open to girls aged 10-14 years, the camp was designed to strengthen their religious connection while fostering intellectual and life skills, appreciation of Islamic values, and authentic Arabic identity.
“One of Al-Mujadilah’s goals is to support Muslim women of all ages, and so it’s important that we also focus on girls when designing our offerings,” said Head of Programmes at Al-Mujadilah, Kholood Nooh.
As part of its summer offerings, the second edition of Al-Mujadilah’s Ri’aya Young Adult Stewardship Programme has returned, being delivered in partnership with local and international organisations such as Education Above All’s Al Fakhoora programme, QF’s Akhlaquna, and Paragon Corp, which has expanded Ri’aya’s reach.
This year, the programme received over 700 applications from Qatar, Indonesia, Nigeria, Germany, and beyond, with 21 girls selected to take part. Concluding on August 23, the two-week leadership programme equips them with the skills to meet the challenges of their generation.
“These collaborations will enhance so many of our goals, serving as a natural next step in the leadership journeys of young Muslim women in Qatar and beyond, including those uprooted from Gaza,” said Mahveen Azam, Policy and Partnerships Manager at Al-Mujadilah.
“Our partnerships will also foster intercultural exchange and dialogue between Qatari and international students to enhance understanding of global challenges and build foundations for future collaboration.”
Additional summer programmes featured an array of religious, developmental, and social initiatives. These included Dr. Hanan Al Qattan’s ongoing public lecture series, ‘For the Heart that Awakens’, as well as ‘Intensive Hifth’ classes by Amani Allouh and Tahani Allouh, and the ‘Tatreez: Weaving Heritage’ workshop.
This summer also marks a successful 18 months since Al-Mujadilah was established, underscoring its commitment to enhancing Muslim women’s Islamic knowledge, participation, and engagement.
Executive Director at Al-Mujadilah Dr. Sohaira Siddiqui said, “Al-Mujadilah has now proudly marked more than a year and a half since opening its doors in February 2024.
“From the very beginning, our vision has been clear: to create a destination where Muslim women can navigate the complexities of modern life grounded in the guidance of their faith.”
