Doha, Qatar: Under the patronage of Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs held its annual graduation ceremony honouring students of its scholarship programme for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The ceremony included the recognition of several graduating cohorts, including scholarship programme graduates, graduates of the Religious Institute, graduates of the Diploma in Da’wah and Islamic Sciences offered in partnership with the Community College, and outstanding Qatari students from the Religious Institute.
This broad recognition reflects the diversity of educational pathways supported by the Ministry and its commitment to developing a comprehensive educational system that prepares qualified scholars and preachers at both the national and international levels, reinforcing Qatar’s contribution to serving the wider Muslim community.
Speaking during the ceremony, Director of the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance Jassim bin Abdullah Al Ali, described the scholarship programme as one of the Ministry’s strategic pillars for investing in human development and shaping future generations. He noted that the programme embodies an integrated vision aimed at preparing qualified Islamic scholars capable of conveying the true message of Islam while promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, and balance. Al Ali revealed that the scholarship programme enrolled 182 students from 39 countries during the current academic year, highlighting its international reach and its role in fostering cultural exchange and intellectual engagement among diverse communities. He added that 40 percent of the students achieved academic distinction, demonstrating the quality of the educational programs and the comprehensive support provided by the Ministry.
He explained that the scholarship initiative extends far beyond academic instruction, offering a holistic development framework that includes educational, spiritual, and skills-based training. Students benefit from a stable learning environment from the moment they arrive in Qatar, as well as Quranic and educational programs and social activities designed to strengthen their character and enhance their personal and professional skills.
As part of its efforts to support high-achieving students, Al Ali announced the allocation of 23 university scholarships at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University for the current year, enabling graduates to continue their academic and professional specialisation.
He also highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to supporting Qatari students. During the ceremony, 48 outstanding Qatari students from the Religious Institute were honoured, while six students benefited from the government scholarship programme at the College of Sharia. In addition, the joint Diploma Programme in Da’wah and Islamic Sciences at the Community College of Qatar currently includes 57 male and female students, with 13 students graduating this year.
Al Ali emphasised that these educational initiatives collectively form an integrated system that contributes to the Ministry’s strategic objective of preparing qualified academic and religious cadres capable of serving both religion and society while supporting Qatar’s sustainable development goals.
The ceremony concluded with the honouring of graduates and distinguished students, reaffirming the Ministry’s continued commitment to nurturing knowledge, promoting Islamic values, and investing in human capital as a foundation for societal progress and prosperity.
