ISLAMABAD: Terming the Axact fake degree scam ‘very sensitive and time-consuming’ issue, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday said that the scandal has raised questions on Pakistan’s reputation.
Speaking to media representatives, he said the FIA probe into the scandal would be transparent and will be carried out without any pressure.
Nisar said that the seven member committee formed to probe the scandal had not been changed nor had any arrests been made thus far.
He said no arrests have been made in the ongoing probe thus far. However, several people are being interrogated in connection with the scandal, he added.
The interior minister said no one’s name has been put on the Exit Control List (ECL) but all officials of the company including CEO Shoaib Ahmad Shaikh will be questioned. Ten directors of the software company have been issued notices, he added.
Chaudhry Nisar said that Cyber Crime and Corporate wings of the FIA are probing the scandal.
The minister went on to say that the case did not fall under the criminal cases category but was a Cyber crime.
