Sri Lanka edge past England in T20 tie

LONDON: The T20 World Champions, Sri Lanka reasserted their dominance in the shortest version yesterday by overcoming  England by nine runs in the only T20 match of their tour in England here at The Oval. 
After winning the toss England set Sri Lanka to bat at the historical venue. 
With Lahiru Thirimanne’s 40, Kithuruwan Vithanage’s 38 and Thisara Perera’s 49, Sri Lanka managed to post an impressive total of 183 losing seven wickets. 
In reply England chasing 184 managed to reach 174 in the 20 overs. Captain Lasith Malinga took three wickets to limit England.
Sri Lanka will play the first of five one-day matches tomorrow before the two Tests. AGENCIES
