The Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday signed a joint statement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The joint statement was signed for Qatar by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and for the Government Saint Vincent and the Grenadines by its Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves.
The signing of the joint statement comes within the desire of the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to strengthen and develop friendship and cooperation between their two countries in political, economic, trade, scientific, technological and cultural fields, as well as to establish bilateral relations in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and the international law provisions.
The two countries agreed to establish diplomatic ties at the ambassadorial level in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 18 April 1961, with effect from the date of signing of this joint statement.
Qatar and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines also signed yesterday two cooperation agreements in the legal and aerial transport fields.
Minister of Justice Dr Hassan bin Lahdan Al Muhannadi and Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves signed the cooperation agreement in legal fields. The agreement is related to strengthening ties between legal experts of both countries. It also focuses on exchanging expertise in the legal fields and organizing workshops and conferences related to training and other legal matters.
Minister of Transport and Communication H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti signed a cooperation agreement with Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves in the field of aerial transport. The agreement is related to providing different aerial services, including international ones. The agreement also focuses on cooperation in the field of flight safety and other related matter. The agreement is the latest in Qatar's effort to expand its aerial services agreements to allow its national carrier to expand its network and international destinations.
