Healthcare practitioners being trained as part of Excellence in Effective Communication and Teamwork programme.
Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched the first session of the ‘Excellence in Effective Communication and Teamwork’’ programme to develop basic skills in communication, teamwork, resolving conflicts, and enhance leadership skills of staff.
The programme is represented by PHCC’s Workforce Department and has been accredited by QCHP (Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners) with 6 credit hours, category 1. The training was provided to 44 health care practitioners at Al Thumama Health Center.
Dr Zelaikha Al Wahidi, Executive Director of Workforce Development and Training, said, “This training is part of the directorates’ firm commitment to support the PHCC’s mission, vision and goals, aligned to National Primary Health Care strategy of Qatar. This competency based programme is developed to embed core primary healthcare principles and values, as part of strategic goal Excellence in Workforce and Organizational learning.”
The ‘Excellence in Effective Communication and Teamwork’ programme is aimed at 3,000 health practitioners from different specialities.
Dr Noura Al Mutau’a — Head of Clinical Training Department, said, “The programme will be delivered to all health professionals at PHCC, through a phased training plan. It aims at reaching 3,000 health practitioners from different specialities, via two interactive workshops per month for three years. The course is followed by a post test and a self-directed reflective assignment to assure embedding of learning and encourage change in practice.”
Dr Sara Mohamed Al Marri, Head of Non Clinical Training, said that the internal education system encourages more effective communication and further development of working relationships with colleagues, as well as improving the level of satisfaction among patients and contribute to improving the quality of provided health services by working as part of the primary health care team.
