Berlin: Germany on Monday branded a Russian court's conviction of Ukrainian combat pilot Nadiya Savchenko over the killing of two Russian journalists as a breach of the rule of law.

"Today's guilty verdict against Ms Savchenko is the result of a trial which, according to everything we know, breached the principles of the rule of law," said a foreign ministry spokeswoman.
