Digital Incubation Centre announces 24 winners of fifth IdeaCamp

Doha: The Digital Incubation Centre of the Ministry of  Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has announced the 24 winners of the fifth edition of IdeaCamp. 

The announcement was made at a virtual ceremony attended by Draper University and DIC’s distinguished partners. 

The announcement of the 24 IdeaCamp winners comes after a round of pitching by 40 shortlisted startups in front of a distinguished panel of judges which consisted of Mohammad  Shahinfrom Ooredoo, Hind Al Saad from Qatar Development Bank, Dr. Allan Villegas from HEC Paris University, Suhail Shaker and Nizar Hneini from KPMG, Dr. Munir Tag from QNRF, Mohamed Benaichouche from Google, Abdulaziz Alsaadi from Angel QA, Francisco Miguel Sousa from Talabat and Hayfa Al Abdulla from QSTP.

The winners’ ideas harness emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, drones and robotics, platform and Internet of things to serve the sectors of education, health care, and environment.

The winning startups for the fifth edition of IdeaCamp are: 4YouSee Arenas, BaytTravel, BIT LLC, CarFlow, Check-In, Colorant, CryEye, Elham Platform, EMES, EndGame, Eqarat, Fursa, Gadgetery, IAM Universe, MakeMyBot, Move It, One Million Trees Initiative, PetSooq, Qdrive, SideLynes/SideChatz, Speechzy, Tasisand Tiara.

During the ceremony, eighteen startups that completed their incubation period at the Digital Incubation Centre were also celebrated. These startups are: Xavier, Educarso, Skip Cash, Smart Shuttle, Noor, One Life, Reward (Eatytime), PetSquare, Bevol, Mersal, Wheels, Bookeroo, Story Post, Ringdeem, khetm, Beyond Barriers (Madad), Hey Qatar, and Qcompare.

On this occasion, H E Reem Al Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Society Development Affairs, said: “A hearty congratulation to DIC latest graduates and a warm welcome to IdeaCamp 5th edition finalists. Tech startups are considered as a key driver for economic growth and job creation.

Through innovative and scalable startup, Qatar can diversify its economy while delivering impactful solutions for the society; and thus, contributing to realizing Qatar’s National Vision. Today marks another milestone that demonstrates Qatar’s commitment towards developing its tech startups as well as driving the growth of our ICT sector”

Duha Ali Al Buhendi, Digital Incubation Center Acting Manager, said: “On behalf of the Digital Incubation Centre and the Ministry of Communications and Technology, I would like to thank DIC graduating startups and wish them future success with their businesses. And I would like to welcome the new incubated startups and hope their journey with DIC will be full of triumph, growth and all their ideas see the light. DIC is committed to supporting digital entrepreneurs in Qatar. The fifth edition of IdeaCamp was exceptional in terms of the quality of the participants’ projects and the strategic partnership with Draper University that helped entrepreneurs develop their projects and gave two startups golden tickets to visit Silicon Valley.”

Selected ideas in the fifth edition of the camp varied to serve the sectors of education, health care, and environment, and transportation using emerging technology technologies such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, Internet of things, drones &robotics and platform.
