Public praises Katara, affirming it as a family-friendly destination

Doha, Qatar: As part of Katara’s activities accompanying the Asian Cup Qatar 2023, the Katara Oud Centre presented on Friday, in Building 6, a musical evening under the title “Oud Night” with the artist Riyad Abu Allam, where he entertained the audience with melodious arrangements and clips.

On Thursday meanwhile, the centre also presented an Iranian musical evening attended by a large audience of different nationalities and cultures, where the Iranian Farhang Band performed a wonderful concert during which it presented distinctive pieces of music inspired by the Iranian musical heritage.

These musical compositions, also reflected the richness of Iranian musical heritage and artistic culture, which blended authenticity and contemporaneity. The audience also interacted with the sophisticated, creative performance and melodious melodies played by the band members on their traditional musical instruments, with all their delicate and deep artistic sense, moving between various types of meter and maqam.

On Friday, the audience watched a Malaysian cultural show in cooperation with the Malaysian Embassy in the State of Qatar, where the band presented various artistic performances that showed the richness and diversity of Malaysia’s heritage, its diverse heritage. On the other hand, the Katara Fine Art Competition under the title Customs and Traditions of the Peoples of Asia and the Photography Competition attracted artists of different nationalities and ages. The number of artists’ entries in the Fine Art Competition reached more than 60 participants who were divided into two groups.

As part of the activities accompanying the Asian Cup, the film the Japanese film Ninja Warrior and Malaysian film Ola Bola were shown yesterday, January 20. While the Al Thurraya Planetarium continues to show its films about space and planets on a daily basis at 5, 6 and 7pm in Building 41. For its part, the Al Gannas Association tent received a remarkable audience, through which they learned about the association’s activities and information about the Qatari heritage of falcons and hunting. The Cut Art Market and the Crafts Market also continue to attract the public with their unique antiques and souvenirs.

The stalls of shops specialising in popular food and handicrafts distributed around the open-air theatre and inside the corridors of Katara also attract a large turnout, offering various products in various fields, whether in traditional food, handicrafts, painting, sewing, crochet, etc.

In this context, the public praised the activities presented by Katara on the occasion of the Asian Cup, as the Katara Cultural Village became the most suitable destination for various family members due to the various offers and distinguished cultural and artistic activities they found. The championship cup was also present and received the attention of visitors by taking souvenir photos with it.

One visitor, Hamad Al Qahtani said: “I came from Saudi Arabia with my family and everyone advised us to come to Katara, and we found it to be a beautiful place. We spent a whole day here without getting bored. Restaurants are available, offers and activities are available. Indeed, the cultural district is a distinctive tourist destination.”

Another visitor, Veronique said: “I came here with my daughter and was impressed by the activities, especially the distinctive artistic performances. My grandson also enjoyed drawing and colouring with the rest of the children in the courtyard of Building 15.” Another visitor, Paula, said: “I came for a short visit to Qatar, and we immediately headed to the Katara. I found it a beautiful place and the activities are diverse. You feel that all of Asia is present in this place.”
