Cordoba/Argentina: Qatari Rally Driver Nasser Al Attiyah claimed the runner-up spot of the 40th Dakar Rally, held in Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina with the participation of 350 contestants in the five categories.

Al Attiyah finished the race in timing 49 hours, 59 minutes and 58 seconds to seal the runner-up spot, 43 minutes and 40 seconds behind Spaniard Carlos Sainz. South Africa's driver Giniel de Villiers finished third timing 50hours, 32 minutes and 59 seconds.

The drivers ended today's 286 km phase, after doing which 120 timed kilometers and 166 kilometers in the city of Cordoba, Argentina.

In the motorcycles category, Austrian Mathias Falkner won the title followed by Argentina's Kevin Benavides after 16 minutes and 53 seconds, while Australia's Toby Price finished third, 23:01 minutes behind the winner.
