An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, in Kamchatka Peninsula, eastern Russia.
The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 24.9 km.
In August, Russia's Kamchatka region recorded 50 earthquakes, one of which measured 6.5 on the Richter scale.
The Kamchatka Peninsula lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a wide arc of volcanic activity.
